My daughter accompanied me to DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids for the Broadway Theatre Guilds presentation of RENT, it was great to see so many 'younger' people attending a musical. Magenta, my daughter, accompanied me as part of the 'shadow your parent at work program'. Under normal circumstances I would instruct her to sit here and make sure to stay out of the way..... it was extremely satisfying that the stage manager chose to 'bring her along' for PLACES and several cues and then placed her in a seat on-stage to enjoy the event from the wings. It has been awhile since I had the opportunity to bring her along to any kind of a 'cultural event' (her mom is a real 'piece of work'), the last time was several years ago for our arena production of CARMEN. I was surprized that opera in a foreign language was interesting.... the few times I went to check with her she appeared to be in awe (having been the production carpenter I couldn't keep her with me as part of 'disaster preparation and prevention'.... by the way all went fine unlike our rehersal for AIDA a couple years prior).

I am excited that after alost 9yrs that the folks at the 'child support' office might in fact consider some of the significant errors in their administration. It amazes me that bureaucrats can be so casual about blaming it on the computer - GIGO (garbage in, garbage out). Rep. Doug Hart's office assistant Tiffany has been not only mostly unresponsive, but also, unable or unwilling to share any of her contacts or efforts - I guess I was right when I suggested that she must be just 'cute' or incapable of following through with anything other than the clout contained in the phrase "I'm with Representative Doug Hart's office.....", she was able to confirm and apologize that there is in fact no Checks and Balances. It was equally dissatisfying that Sen. Vern Ehlers office chose to just 'PASS THE BUCK' over a year ago. It is only somewhat amusing that fairly regularly 'someone' attempts to explain that the "problem has to do with your multiple employers" - NO KIDDING !!!! I've been saying that for 8yrs, and in fact came up with a reasonable resolve..... again they blame it on the computer and the payroll office - I do my part by trying to keep working.
I'll continue this blog in awhile.
Is the revolution forthcoming?

Spent a few hours with 'the CREW' at Dwight Lydell Park in Comstock Park yesterday, and learned something! Years ago, there were no alcohol, betting, or 'whoring around' allowed on Sundays.... so someone went out of the city and started another small village. Nick Finks Bar is still there, but, the bordello that was upstairs is gone.... just like Key West.... "OTHER ATTRACTIONS UPSTAIRS".
Speaking of, don't forget to stop by the GARDEN of EDEN (upstairs from the BULL & Whistle), it's a clothing optional bar. If that ain't entertaining enough, head over to SCHOONER WHARF, your guess is as good as mine for entertainment options and all could be arranged around this Last Little Bit of Old Key West.
Work going on in Indianapolis next week, but, am trying to get a call for AEROSMITH and KISS at COMERICA Park (next to Ford Field, across from the FOX and HOCKEYTOWN).
Maybe I'll see ya there!

I didn't see you at the Park, and I missed you at 'the GRINFEST', too. Some of the musicians that came in from OHIO claim that this little event is one of the "best kept secrets in MI"....... and I sure would have a hard time arguing the point. It's been several years that I've been hearing about KIRBY.... he and GARRISON had a couple of really 'sweet' sets. Beans didn't make it, maybe he's off sailing in the Carribean singing sailor and pirate music. I was really glad to hear that ACE is back with a band, in fact 'The Last Call Band' is now referred to as ACE'S HIGH (they aren't sure if the apostrophe belongs). They have done a little shuttling to Nashville (hey GLEN, did ya run into my friends down there?), as has CADILLAC CRUMB(the Nashville Bum). Preliminary bookings for the '04 event are proceeding..... expecting to see many of those faces at WHEATLAND in a couple weeks.
If you are unfamiliar with WHEATLAND, I'm certain that the page I have isn't the only one that comes up in a search. Recommended searches at DOGPILE and at MAMMA.
The rain Sun AM put a little dampner on it, as did the fact that I had to work at the GVSU convocation, and, it turned out that I was 2hrs early. Did what I could with the Odyssey gear, and, Kenny and I struck some of the cabling from the PA and monitors. I was really happy seeing that everyone came to work.... didn't set around waiting for the official start time, therefore I didn't get in trouble fore starting the 'load-out' early.
ZZ Top with Ted Nugent as the opening act on Fri at the ARENA.... and an organizational picnic today in Comstock Park at Dwight Lydell Park. If I don't see ya there..... out of sight, out of mind.
Whatever ya do.... remember to ............... "COME AND SEE THE SHOW, THE SHOW THAT NEVER ENDS"
